Replacement Kitchen Door Timber Choices 


We offer a choice of timbers* for our replacement kitchen doors. We only use the highest grade timber which is sourced from sustainable sources.

Ash

Ash is a highly grained wood, the colour of ash ranges from creamy white through light brown.Ash timber is hard, tough and very hard-wearing, with a coarse open grain. Ash is popular not only for its looks, but also for its ease of working and incredible strength.

 Beech

Beech is a clean and hard wearing timber, with a bright clean appearance.

Maple

Maple is a plain but attractive timber with a white to cream colour, which darkens to a gold colour over time. It has a fine even grain and great strength. Its clean white appearance and smooth finish means that Maple is ideal for use in food preparation areas like kitchens.

MDF

Medium Density Fibre Board (MDF) is made from powdered wood bonded with glue and compressed to form the sheets. It is quite soft and very easy to work with. It cuts, sands and finishes very easily. As it is a manufactured "Wood" it has very little in the way of texture. MDF does not contain knots or rings, making it more uniform than natural woods during cutting and in service.

Oak

Oak is hard and pale in colour, but darkens to a rich brown with age and polishing, it has very attractive grain markings. A strong, extremely durable, heavy timber it finishes well and resists moisture absorption.

Pine

Pine has a uniform texture and  a pale brown to red-brown colouring. It finishes well and resists shrinkage, swelling and warping.

Pippy Oak

Pippy Oak is a term used to describe the instance of small, tight clusters of knots, which appear sporadically in the growth of the tree.

Walnut

Walnut is a close grained hard wood, the colour varying between light golden brown and light grey brown, often with a rich grain pattern. It has fine texture and is strong, easy to work with. It resists shrinking and warping and can take all types of finishes very well.
